Elementary students benefit from learning to code because it cultivates problem-solving skills, fosters creativity, and equips them with a valuable digital literacy that can empower them in an increasingly technology-driven world. These 5th graders are building their first original programs!

Celebrating Greatness!
Our students are greeted each day by many staff who like to start their day by seeing the smiles of the students, however, special thanks to Mr. Kolness and Mrs. Otteson who have been two consistent faces that greet our students each day!

Mrs. Kathleen Lingen is a current 6th grade teacher at Kindred Elementary School. She would never “toot her own horn”, so we took time to toot it for her today!
Mrs. Lingen is the definition of dedication. She is starting her 37th year of teaching. She started serving Kindred students fresh out of college. She’s never taught anywhere else. Mrs. Lingen is a passionate, lifelong learner. One can’t help but feel boosted by her eagerness to serve her students and feel her positive energy that resonates all around her.
She recently shared that she keeps coming back because she loves what she does. She enjoys looking for new ways to teach content and to connect with kids. She also commented, “teaching allows for a lot of creativity and every year presents the potential to be the best year yet!” She gives credit to her colleagues by stating, “I admire the educators that I’ve worked with and learned from over the years. It helps to love what you do and who you do it with. The Kindred Staff is a strong and supportive family. I can’t imagine doing anything else. Bring on year 37!”
Mrs. Lingen, you are a pillar that holds strong the foundation of Kindred School District. We sincerely value and appreciate your dedication to the Kindred community and your students. Thank you!
